What does it mean to be Indigenous? This new dance creation work, inspired Thomas King’s writing featured in the eponymous short film, I’m Not the Indian You Had in Mind, explores stereotypes existing in the Indigenous cultures of the Americas.
There are many points of intersection where social, race, and gender stereotypes collide across cultures. It is through this intersection and collision where stereotypes and preconceived ideas of what it is to be Indigenous can be transformed.
