A 3 day workshop-lab for intermediate to advanced physical performers and makers, with Meagan O’Shea
The workshop will focus on:
illuminating the solo body, developing tools to generate physical vocabulary; spontaneous choreography, guiding principles for crafting composition in the moment; and performing with scores/open floor. We will practice seeing and listening while in motion and develop skills to build content themes and movement motifs. Participants will dance and watch.
Meagan O’Shea is a dance artist and improviser. She has trained extensively in Ensemble Thinking with Nina Martin of The Lower Left, and improv/activism/performance with Keith Hennessy. Incorporating her training in dance, theatre, and clown to create an integrated approach to making spontaneous choreography and performing improvisation, Meagan has performed improvised dances across Canada, in the USA and Europe. Her dance like no one is watching public art/contemporary dance project has included more than 200 dancers and 30,000 audience since it’s inception in 2007.
