Introduction to Sufi-Shamanic Performance: Movement Vocabulary, Vocal Techniques, Embodiment Exercises
This workshop will provide an introduction into the rituals of Sufi and Shamanic dance traditions. Participants will explore Iranian, Azeri, Uzbek, Turkmen, Tajik, and Western Mongolian performance practices, and will be taught choreography based on dynamic postural movements that stem from cultural body language and gestures. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of Sufi and Shamanic dance rituals, and will develop skills in which they can incorporate into their own daily practices.

Integration of Words, Music and Dance in Performance
Participants will explore new hybrid movements, developed from a fusion of traditional and contemporary approaches of Eastern cultures. Particular focus will be on the Time Arts Integrated trio ensemble from the East; poetry, music and dance.
DANCE LEVEL: All (Participants will be taught the fundamentals with options to increase the level of difficulty based on dance experience)

COST: $45/day or $80/ both days.
