NDW is pleased to announce another round of choreographic labs this summer. We are grateful to the Canada Council for the Arts whose support has made these workshops possible.

The first series will take place in July with the esteemed Christopher House. Each day will begin with a warm-up designed to stimulate curiosity and the body/mind connection while encouraging each dancer to expand her or his toolbox of options. The class will focus on articulation, strength, alignment, presence, weight and dynamic phrasing in a spirit of playful risk and discovery.

The afternoon session will address issues and questions about creative process. It will consist of a balance of proposals, conversations, tasks and exercises designed to develop a heightened awareness of compositional options and encourage questions about creativity and the role of the artist. There will be time for individuals to share existing work as well as begin new creations.
