Position: Arts Management Intern

Meredith Potter Arts Management is seeking a highly motivated person interested in on-the-job training in managing theatre and dance companies. Working with a selection of the company’s client base – Peggy Baker Dance Projects and Volcano Theatre – the intern will follow a work plan that covers areas such as:
- Producing and Touring
- Contract Negotiation
- Marketing and Fundraising
- Governance, Board Management and Liaison
- Financial Management.
This is a paid, full-time position.
This opportunity is designed as an entry-level position for an emerging arts manager who is currently building their career in the field. A completed degree in arts management/arts administration/cultural management is a requisite AND/OR a minimum of two years experience producing/marketing/raising funds for performing arts enterprises. Individuals who do not possess these specific requisites need not apply. Please note that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Interviewees will need to be available for a 2 – 3 hour period for an interview and a series of skill assessment exercises between March 19 – 29.

Established in 2005, Meredith Potter Arts Management is an arts management firm based in Toronto. Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy for Performing Arts with a B.A. (Arts Management) in 1994, Meredith has worked in cultural organizations and performing arts companies in both Canada and Australia. She was awarded the 1995 Andrew Noblett Arts Marketing Fellowship at the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, during which she was seconded to the 1996 Adelaide Festival of Arts. She was General Manager of Patch Theatre Company, a professional theatre for young people, for three years before moving to Toronto in 1999. After working as the Administrator of Artists’ Services for two years at the Dance Umbrella of Ontario, Meredith joined CORPUS as General Manager from 2001 – 2004. She produced the Dusk Dances festival from 2002 – 2008, and currently manages Peggy Baker Dance Projects, Volcano Theatre and Ipsita Nova Dance Projects. Meredith also acts as Patch Theatre Co.’s North American agent.
